CDGM INITIATIVES AND ACTIVITIES

At CDGM, we are proud to support and advocate for the Deaf community across Canada through impactful collaborations, events, and educational resources.

COLLABORATIONS AND SUPPORT

  • Partnering with Deaf Bridge and Social Hub to welcome over 250 Deaf Ukrainian refugees to Canada.
    • Cities supported include VancouverEdmontonWinnipeg, and Toronto.

NATIONWIDE TOWNHALLS

We host Town Halls to discuss critical topics impacting the Deaf community, including:

  • The Russian Invasion of Ukraine and its impact on the global Deaf community.
  • Review of Canada’s VRS (Video Relay Service) to ensure it meets accessibility standards.
  • “Deaf Community and You” – co-hosted with the Toronto Association of the Deaf (TAD) to foster greater awareness and understanding.

EDUCATIONAL YOUTUBE VIDEOS

Our YouTube channel offers valuable resources to empower the Deaf community, including:

  • How to Self-Advocate effectively in various situations.
  • Filing Complaints with the CRTC for communication and accessibility issues.
  • Information on the Accessible Canada Act, its provisions, and how it benefits the community.
  • Personal stories on Mainstreaming Experiences, offering insights and shared learnings.
